Guava

The trees are native to tropical America but are now grown in tropical and subtropical regions around the world. Guava has quadrangular branchlets, oval to oblong leaves, and four-petaled, white flowers. The guava fruits are round to pear-shaped and contain small, hard seeds. The skin is greenish-yellow coloured while the flesh can be white, yellow, or pink. The fruits are commonly consumed raw or sliced and served with sugar and cream as a dessert. They are also popular as pastry fillings, preserves, jams, and jellies due to the pulp’s texture and sweet taste. Fresh guavas are a rich source of vitamins A, B, and C and possess antioxidant properties.
